Get Cozy this Winter With Scandy Inspired Living
Over Easter, my partner and I attended our friend’s Icelandic wedding. A beautiful couple finally tied the knot. During the speeches, the sister of the groom referenced their family as a “randy Scandy family”, which tickled me enough to want to get in on the action with my own punny title. Wordplay aside, the two things this region of the planet is good at are staying warm and looking good.
While Hommey is an Australian lifestyle brand, their Head of Design Jamie Ashkar developed a lasting impression of the Scandinavian approach after spending years in Copenhagen. Drawing on that impression, they have run with it and developed a Scandinavian-inspired collection spanning bedroom, bathroom and living, designed to flow seamlessly across the whole home.

“I was drawn to the restraint, the softness, the way simplicity becomes a statement in itself,” Jamie says. “This collection is us channelling that warmth through Hommey’s own lens.” The palette of Hazelnut, Chocolate, Cream, Cornflower and Riviera carries that same quiet confidence, with pinstripe details that add dimension without visual noise.

For Founder Justin Kestelman, the range is also a deliberate statement. “This collection is Hommey leaning into what makes us different. Being copied on a product level is inevitable – but what can’t be copied is our ability to curate a point of view, invest in design and creative, and tell a story that resonates. This collection is us leaning fully into that.”

It is also the first time Hommey has designed with the whole home in mind, with each category speaking to the next both aesthetically and functionally. Bedding sits at the heart of it, made from 100 percent organic cotton in two styles: the Versa reversible design in Caramel/Cream and Chocolate/Mist, and the Solid range in Hazelnut and Riviera. Towels come in Pinstripe and Solid styles across the same colourways, with two-pack bath towels from $88 and bath sheets from $128. Cotton/Ramie robes in Hazelnut and Chocolate are $129, with Stripe PJ sets including long shirt ($99), short shirt ($89), pants ($99) and shorts ($89).

“From the outset, I knew this needed to be more than a series of product launches,” says Jamie. “It had to feel like a complete expression of the Hommey lifestyle. Every element feels purposeful, yet effortless.”
The collection is available now at gethommey.com.au and across all Hommey stores.
