This Innocent Comment We All Say To Pregnant Women Might Make Them Cry
When you see someone you know or a stranger on the street sporting a perfect baby bump it is common for you to feel as though it is okay to lovingly comment on the size of their baby bump. Whether it is a comment on how big their bump is or how small, we don’t see it as an offensive comment.
But fitness model and cross fit trainer Revie Jane Schulz revealed we are wrong, and shared what you should not say to a mum-to-be.
In an Instagram post the new mum shared a photo of herself in a form-fitting dress and shared the heartbreaking experience she had when buying it.
The new mum admitted that she was reduced to tears when someone made the following comment to her.
“I had tried on this dress and the shop assistant said ‘Holy moly! My friend is 36 weeks and you’re only 24 weeks and you’re WAY bigger than her!’ She repeated this to the lady in the next changing room to me.”
“I cried while I tried the dress on,” she wrote on Instagram.

How many of you can think back to a time where you commented on the size of someones bump? Sure, you did it in a way that was meant to support them and make them feel amazing, but it probably did the opposite if Revie’s comments are anything to go by. What should you say instead?
“Here’s a tip, don’t mention the size of a bump. No ‘you’re so big!’s’ No ‘oh! You’re so tiny!’s’ Just say something like ‘you look beautiful/ healthy/ amazing!'”
